District Report for Atlanta District
Meetings:
We met the 2nd Monday in the months of November, January, March, and May.

The Outpatient Surgery PACU at Gwinnett Medical Center-Duluth hosted the November meeting.  24
nurses attended.  We enjoyed bar-b-que with all the trimmings.  Our speakers included an endocinologist
and a plastic surgeon.  Each lectured on very interesting information and current updates in each field.

WellStar Cobb Hospital PACU hosted the January meeting.  All enjoyed a wonderful Italian-styled dinner.
53 RN's attended, our largest meeting ever.  The guest speaker presented skills for improvement in
communication.

Our host hospital for the March meeting will be Northside,  WellStar Kennestone Hospital will host in
May.

Miscellaneous:

Currently we are planning a "Spring Fling", a one-day educational opportunity for perianesthesia nurses.  It
will take place at the WellStar Windy Hill Development Cener in Marietta, GA.  Brochures will be mailed
to all district members.

My main goal as president of the Atlanta District for 2007-2008 is to increase awareness of GAPAN.
Each Atlanta District offer has been assigned 2-3 hospitals in the district.  Flyers are sent announcing
meetings approximately one month in advance.

Linda Bolton, our secretary is coordinating printing of shirts with the GAPAN logo.  Information will be
presented at the March meeting and orders taken.  Plans to wear them at the state seminar.  It was
suggested that we sell the shirts at the state seminar.  Further discussion will be necessary and of
course board approval.

The location and dates of the state seminar was announced at the January meeting.  We will continue to
remind members at each meeting.

Reminders have been made at each meeting regarding National PeriAnesthesia Nurses Week in February.
Suggestions have been made how each unit might celebrate using the week's theme.

Respectfully submitted,
