Message from GAPAN State President, Jeanette Lang

Hello, fellow nurses,
Happy New Year! I hope that this new beginning finds you happy, healthy, and blessed. I know that I am!
We have had many successes this last year in becoming safer, more effective practitioners for our patients, our employers, and ourselves. I thank you for the caring that you portray in the many situations you encounter. We learn more every day how to better serve those that depend on us.
As we begin this new year, it is important to assess where we have been over this last year and then set goals for the new year. The challenges we have faced and overcome during 2011 have made us stronger whether we realize it or not. We all know, the muscle that is not worked becomes atrophied and eventually useless. The same type of strength is obtained through hardships and difficulties we face in life. Now is a time to push forward and reach new heights in our lives, practices and work places. The Board and I will be meeting for the annual retreat and planning session in a couple weeks. Send us any successes or concerns in which we could assist you. It is our pleasure to be your voice in our field.
We can make a difference in our world when we all pull together to achieve that dream of being all that we can be. Let us enjoy the journey that we face daily and decide here and now that we will be even better today than we were yesterday! How about it nurses? Let us embrace the changes we see coming and forge ahead to a better Georgia Association of Perianesthesia Nurses.
Until next time,
Yours truly,
Jeanette Lang, BSN, RN, CPAN
